Impact Thrift Store focuses on giving back locally and globally

BOISE, Idaho – I’m your Boise Bench Neighborhood Reporter Jessica Davis at Impact Thrift, a new thrift store on Boise Bench located in the former Boise Bench Commission Furniture Store.

This shop specializes in giving back to those who need it most.

  • Impact Thrift is a new thrift store owned by Chazak Rescue, a Pennsylvania-based nonprofit that trains people in first responder skills and deploys them to war zones and natural disasters.
  • All Impact Thrift sales go to Chazak Rescue for training and assistance.
  • Impact Thrift isn’t open yet, but general manager Robert Weaver told me it’s scheduled to open around mid-December. They accept donations Tuesday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m

Impact Thrift is a new thrift store on The Bench.

“We wanted to be somewhat self-sustainable on the training side of the organization, and so the thrift store is one of our ideas for generating a sustainable income for Chazak Rescue,” says Robert Weaver, general manager of Impact Thrift.

Impact Thrift is owned by Chazak Rescue, a Pennsylvania-based nonprofit that trains people in first responder skills and deploys them to war zones and natural disasters in places like Ukraine, Kenya and Uganda.

Weaver says, “We saw that there is a need around the world for people to go into high-risk areas to help people who are at their lowest juncture or in their time of greatest need.”

Robert Weaver, the store’s manager, moved from Pennsylvania to Boise to open Impact Thrift, where all store profits go back to Chazak Rescue.

Weaver says, “It’s like any other thrift store – used home clothes, furniture… we have a lot of furniture that I’m excited about. All thrift store proceeds go to Chazak Rescue.”

Impact Thrift and Deadwood Outfitters near Cascade are currently the only stores in Idaho working hand-in-hand with Chazak Rescue, making a difference both locally and globally.

“Our vision is to be the first responders on the scene in high-risk areas and to help people in greatest need,” says Weaver.

Impact Thrift is not open yet. General Manager Robert Weaver tells me they’re scheduled to open around mid-December and are now accepting donations Tuesday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m
