Randy Moss reveals his cancer diagnosis

NFL legend Randy Moss is currently recovering from cancer surgery.

On Friday (December 13), Moss took to Instagram Live to share the latest update on his health. The caption read “Let’s Moss Cancer,” meaning he plans to emerge victorious from his battle.

“I’ve been telling you over and over again over the last few weeks that I’m struggling with something inside and your boy is a cancer survivor,” Moss said in an Instagram live stream.

“So I actually had cancer,” he continued. “They found it in the bile duct right between the pancreas and the liver and that the cancer was just outside the bile duct.”

Moss continued to thank his medical team for their care.

“It was a busy week, a busy time. So I want to thank you all again,” he said. “Thank you and your team for nursing me back to health and bringing me back here with my family.”

He then gave a shout-out to his teammates during Sunday’s NFL Countdown.

“As soon as I’m healthy and able to go out with guys again, I’ll be on set,” Moss explained. “Hopefully I can be with you soon.”

Moss assured fans that his condition is improving day by day.

“By the grace of God, my liver began to fail,” he said. “I didn’t think I would ever be in a position like this, as healthy as I thought I was.”

After Moss addressed speculation about his health, ESPN announced that the Hall of Famer would be taking “extended time” to address “a personal health challenge.”

The network released a statement detailing Moss’ hiatus.

“Pro Football Hall of Famer Randy Moss will withdraw from his Sunday morning pregame show to “focus on a personal health challenge,” the statement said.

“For nearly a decade, Randy has been an invaluable member of the team,” the statement continued. “He has ESPN’s full support and we look forward to welcoming him back when he is ready.”
