Ryan Warsofsky received his first NHL fine.

The NHL announced Tuesday that the San Jose Sharks’ first-year head coach was fined $25,000 for “inappropriate behavior” during Saturday’s heated game against the Utah Hockey Club.

Warsofsky would not elaborate on what he did on Saturday but confirmed it was administration-related.

“I won’t go into detail about what happened. We carry on. Emotions, emotional sport, and we will continue,” he said. “Get ready for tonight.”

From the Sharks’ perspective, it looked like the referees had at least overlooked Kevin Stenlund’s boarding on Macklin Celebrini and Logan Cooley’s header on Mikael Granlund in a 4-3 loss.

Warsofsky is known as a fiery coach.

“It’s something I’m trying to get better at,” Warsofsky said. “That’s kind of who I am.” At the same time, I’m passionate, I wear my feelings openly. Sometimes it overwhelms me, but at the end of the day I have to support our players. And that won’t change. Do I wish I had used different words or something? But at the end of the day, we’re all going to sit together as a group, myself, the coaches, the trainers, the equipment staff, the players, and I’m going to have our players’ backs.”
