During the press tour for OppenheimerChristopher Nolan was often asked about AI after the fear of AI in weapons grew. For his part, Nolan tried to keep the focus on the very real threat that nuclear weapons pose to our governments. Nuclear war is something that creates fear among civilians, and he tried to focus the conversation on that.

But Nolan noted this in an interview with The Washington Post that he was happy that his film inspired people to deal with the real fear of guns. Especially when using AI. “It’s a wonderful thing that scientists and technologists of all stripes are looking at history and this moment and worrying about unintended consequences,” Nolan told the outlet at the time. “But I also think it’s important to remember that the nuclear threat represents a unique threat to humanity.”

He also expressed a similar sentiment Wired when he talked to them about AI and why he used it principle. The point is that Nolan talked about the responsibility of using AI technology. So I don’t really think the director is who not like Netflix’s business model, would be thrilled by the fact that the company used AI to use his voice seemingly without his consent.
