Simon Rich’s comedy “All In” is sold out; “Elf” hits  million

The preparation for Christmas is very generous on Broadway. Sometimes very, very generous. One of the most impressive developments at the box office last week was the welcoming of All In: Comedy about love, Based on the short stories by writer Simon Rich, read live by artists including John Mulaney, Fred Armisen, Renée Elise Goldsberry and Richard Kind (the cast changes every week).

For the week ending December 15th Everything inside extrapolated $1,046,514 for five previews. The Hudson Theater was sold out for the week, with an average ticket price of $216.22.

Plus, we did our best to impress the holiday gods Elevenjoined the rare $2 million club with a gross of $2,033,784with 94% of the seats in the huge Marquis filled.

Other shows that grossed $2 million or more were the usual: Hamilton ($2,177,119), The Lion King ($2,497,970) and tireless leader Evil ($2,878,086). Two productions were close to the $2 million mark: Gypsies ($1,818,235with press compositions keeping the number down); And Sunset Blvd. ($1,900,669).

Firmly on the market with more than $1 million were: & Juliet, Aladdin, All In: Comedy About Love, Back to the Future, Cabaret At The Kit Kat Club, Death Becomes Her, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Hell’s Kitchen, MJ, Moulin Rouge!, Oh, Mary!, Suffs , The Book of Mormon, The Great Gatsby, The Notebook And The outsiders.

The week was sold out All In: Comedy about love, Death is at her disposal, Hadestown, Hamilton, Oh, Mary!, Romeo + Juliet, Suffs, The Notebook, The Outsiders And Evil. Over 95% were & Juliet, Aladdin, Chicago, Gypsy, Hell’s Kitchen, Moulin Rouge!, Stereophonic, Sunset Blvd., The Book of Mormon, The Great Gatsby And The Lion King.

A few notes: Swept awaywhich recently gave itself a wise two-week extension (until December 29) after announcing an early closure, filled 99% of the seats in Longacre. And excellent Maybe a happy ending, After initially struggling to find its audience, last week it was at 95% capacity at Belasco, with a very pleasing gross of $764,022.

cult of lovewhich opened Dec. 12 to generally good reviews, filled 91% of the Hayes’ seats and grossed $315,283 for two previews and five regular performances.

Another new addition is the so-called vaccination comedy Eureka daywas in previews at Friedman last week, filling 85% of the seats and grossing $230,425. The positive reviews following its December 16 premiere should lead to some box office gains in the coming weeks.

Two shows were closed last week: The notebookfilled the Schoenfeld with Last Chancers and brought in a hefty sum $1,094,299And The Roommategross $501,497 with an attendance rate of 87% (up from 77% the previous week).

Overall, the 36 Broadway productions in theaters last week achieved box office returns $43,720,381with presence 314,951, Both numbers are more than 38% higher than last year at this point. The average ticket price was $138.82about $3 more than last year.
