Raiders rookie Brock Bowers is set to set more NFL records

Let’s take a look at how the Las Vegas Raiders’ rookie class fared in their 19-14 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 16 and what awaits us at the New Orleans Saints on Sunday. Kickoff is at 10 a.m. PT.

Brock Bowers:

This guy is incredible. But we already knew that. The No. 13 overall pick had 11 catches for 99 yards, ending a 10-game losing streak for the Raiders. With his fourth game in a season with 10 or more catches, he tied Pro Football Hall of Famer Tim Brown’s team record. He has 101 receptions for 1,067 yards. He is seven catches away from breaking Darren Waller’s team record of 107 catches and 10 yards away from breaking Hall of Famer Mike Ditka’s 1961 rookie record for yardage by a tight end. He is five catches shy of setting the rookie single-season catcher mark. He is already the rookie tight end catches record holder. Jayden Daniels will likely win the Offensive Rookie of the Year award, but what Bowers is doing is incredibly impressive.

Jackson Powers Johnson:

Powers-Johnson was back on guard after starting six straight games at center because of an injury to Jordan Meredith. Powers-Johnson briefly missed the game due to injury, but returned and finished the game. He’ll probably start in the middle when Meredith returns.

DJ Glaze:

The third-round pick continued to start at right tackle, where he is a fixture. PFF rated him very well.

Decamarion Richardson:

The fourth-round pick continued the season as Jakorian Bennett was sidelined this year with a shoulder injury.

Tommy Eichenberg:

The fifth-round pick from Ohio State played no defensive snaps for the sixth straight game. He played 23 snaps on special teams against Jacksonville.

Dylan Laube:

The sixth-round pick was active for the eighth time this season. The New Hampshire product didn’t play any offensive snaps despite multiple injuries at running back. Laube played 14 snaps on special teams against the Jaguars.

Trey Taylor:

The seventh-round pick was active for seven games and played 16 snaps on special teams.

Not in the squad

Cornerback MJ Devonshire, a seventh-round pick, was cut and is on the practice squad.

Unused free agents:

Linebacker Amari Gainer, defensive tackle Jonah Laulu, safety Thomas Harper and wide receiver Ramel Keyton. Gainer played 23 snaps on special teams. Laulu played 66 percent of the snaps on defense. Laula, who was claimed on waivers by Indianapolis, had two tackles. Harper played 24 snaps on defense and 20 snaps on special teams. He recovered a fumble in the second quarter. Keyton was active for the sixth time and played 11 snaps on special teams.
