Lubbock, TX – A weak cold front will bring refreshing northwest breezes and sunny skies to Lubbock this weekend, making for a pleasant start to New Year’s week. Daytime highs will reach 63°F today, while cooler temperatures will fall to 39°F overnight under mostly clear skies.

According to the National Weather Service, the forecast for Sunday looks even better, with temperatures rising to a high of 70°F (21°C). Towards the evening, breezy northwest winds will ease to 10-20 mph, creating ideal conditions for outdoor activities. Drivers are asked to be cautious of sudden gusts of wind, particularly along Highway 84.

The extended forecast for New Year’s week features a mix of clear skies and mild weather. Monday brings sunny conditions with highs around 22°C and breezy winds reaching speeds of up to 40km/h. Overnight lows will fall to 33°F.

As we approach midweek, expect a cooler trend. Highs will reach 53°F on Tuesday, while lows will fall to 28°F overnight. This cooling trend continues on New Year’s Day with highs of 49°F and partly cloudy skies.
