“Kendrick Lamar will sweep”

Eminem is betting that Kendrick Lamar will dominate the 67th Annual Grammy Awards.

The Detroit rap icon shared his predictions for the upcoming ceremony in a recent interview. Eminem didn’t mince words when he praised the Compton host. “The competition is tough, but Kendrick will beat it. He deserves it,” he said in an excerpt from the show.

Kendrick’s hit “Not Like Us” is a frontrunner in several major categories, including Record of the Year. The track goes up against strong competitors like Beyoncé’s “TEXAS HOLD ‘EM,” Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso” and Taylor Swift’s “Fortnight” featuring Post Malone.

It’s also nominated for Song of the Year, Best Music Video, Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance. Lamar even secured additional awards in the latter two categories for his contributions to Future’s “Metro Boomin” and “Like That.”

Eminem himself is in the running for best rap performance with his track “Houdini,” a standout track from his latest project. The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grace). He faces stiff competition: Cardi B’s “Enough (Miami),” Doechii’s “NISSAN ALTIMA,” Common and Pete Rock’s “When the Sun Shines Again,” and GloRilla’s “Yeah Glo!” Eminem also has his eyes on the Best Rap Album award Coup De Grace, a project that has attracted a lot of attention.

Ironically, Eminem called out Kendrick by name more than once Coup De Grace, especially with tracks like “Lucifer” and the album opener “Renaissance”. On the latter he criticizes critics and refers to Lamar:

“’Kendrick’s album was cool, but it didn’t have any bangers’/’Wayne’s album or Yes’s, I couldn’t tell you which one was better,'” he raps, adding, “You nerdy idiots would find something wrong with that. “ 36 chambers/ That’s what they do to the greats./ Take apart a Picasso and find excuses to hate him.

The mutual respect between the two artists is deep. Eminem previously invited Lamar to join him on stage at the 2022 Super Bowl LVI halftime show, where Kendrick delivered a powerful performance of “mAAd City.” Coming full circle: In February 2025, Lamar will headline the Super Bowl halftime show for the first time.

While Grammy enthusiasm is at an all-time high, both Eminem and Kendrick Lamar remain at the forefront of hip-hop, proving their continued influence on the genre.
