There’s a common Shonen trap that Solo Leveling could fall into with the upcoming season.

The first season focused on Jinwoo’s journey from a helpless E-Rank hunter to someone who can hold his own against the ferocious dungeon monsters. The second season is all about his unstoppable rise to the pinnacle of power, the S-rank hunter. Therefore, there will be a whole host of new characters in the new season. Out of all of them, here are 8 characters that will shine the most. By the way, since this information is based on the original webcomic, there will be some minor spoilers ahead. So if you prefer to just watch the anime, please proceed with caution.

Choi Jong In

The S-rank Guild Master of the Hunters Guild

Choi Jong In

  • Affiliation: Hunters Guild

  • First appearance: Chapter 62

Choi Jong-In is the master of South Korea’s largest guild, the Hunters Guild. This guild has two S-rank hunters, tons of A-rank hunters, and countless B-rank hunters. That’s why they are the only guild in the country that has two strike squads.

The heart of the Hunters Guild is its master, Choi Jong-In. He is an S-rank fire mage who specializes in large-scale attacks. He’ll show off some of his firepower in season two, but we won’t see Choi Jong-In unleash his full power. However, we will see him engage in a hilarious bidding war with Baek Yoonho as to who can convince Sung Jinwoo to join their guild first.

Hwang Dongsoo

An S-rank hunter from the Scavenger Guild

Hwang Dongsoo

  • Affiliation: Scavenger Guild

  • First appearance: Chapter 24

Hwang Dongsoo is a Korean-born S-rank hunter who decided to join a famous American guild called the Scavenger Guild. This decision sparked outrage among the Korean people, with some even calling him a traitor. Hwang Dongsoo himself is an arrogant man with a short fuse. He knows he is powerful and doesn’t hesitate to threaten people with his power.

Hwang Dongsoo has a brother named Hwang Dongsuk, who was actually the cruel man that Jinwoo killed in the dungeon in the first season. The purpose of Hwang Dongsoo’s appearance in the second season is to hunt down his brother’s murderer, Sung Jinwoo.

Baek Yoonho

The S-rank guild master of the White Tiger Guild

Baek Yoonho

  • Affiliation: White Tiger Guild

Guilds are an essential part of the solo leveling world. Here’s a closer look at how they work.

Just like Choi Jong-In, we won’t see Baek Yoonho reach his full potential in Season 2. As mentioned, he primarily appears in his role as guild master, particularly in his attempt to recruit Sung Jinwoo to his guild. That being said, we get a glimpse of the power of the White Beast from Baek Yoonho during his battle with another S-rank hunter, Hwang Dongsoo.

Cha Hae In

The S-rank Vice Guild Master of the Hunters Guild

Cha Hae In

  • Affiliation: Hunters Guild

  • First appearance: Chapter 65

Cha Hae-In is an S-rank hunter and the deputy guild master of the Hunters Guild. Despite being one of the youngest S-Rank Hunters in the world, Cha Hae-In is actually one of the three strongest S-Rank Hunters in South Korea. It can even be argued that she is actually stronger than her guild master, Choi Jong-In. Since Cha Hae-In is a fighter who specializes in sword fighting, her role is different than that of Choi Jong-In, who is a heavyweight, so it is actually difficult to compare the two.

Cha Hae-In will appear around the same time as Choi Jong-In. However, unlike her guild master, Cha Hae-In is more interested in Sung Jinwoo as a person, not as a hunter. We won’t see her use all of her powers in Season 2, but we will get a chance to watch Cha Hae-In destroy monsters in a dungeon.

4

Go Gunhee

The S-rank chairman of the Korean Hunters Association

Go Gunhee

  • Affiliation: Korean Hunters Association

  • First appearance: Chapter 63

Go Gunhee is an S-rank hunter and the chairman of the Korean Hunters Association. Already over 80 years old, he is one of the oldest S-rank hunters in the world. Despite his old age, Go Gunhee is still an intimidating man thanks to his towering height and wrestler-like body.

Although he still has an S rank, Go Gunhee is no longer active on the front lines. Its focus is on promoting and regulating the countless active hunters in South Korea. In Season 2, Go Gunhee is one of the first people to realize Sung Jinwoo’s power.

3

Baran and the dungeon bosses

The final boss of the Demon Castle

White Flame Monarch

  • Affiliation: The Demon Castle

  • First appearance: Chapter 85

Most of the above characters are the good guys. So it’s time to talk about the villains, who will certainly be the highlights of the second season. Who is Jinwoo’s biggest enemy in Season 2? The answer is obviously the monsters of the dungeon, especially the powerful dungeon bosses.
