Could the Indianapolis Colts and Miami Dolphins make a general manager change this offseason?

It’s a possibility. SI.com’s Albert Breer reported Monday that there have been “at least rumors of front office reshuffles in Indianapolis and Miami.”

Chris Ballard has been in this position in Indianapolis since 2017, during which time the Colts have had four successful seasons and two playoff berths. He unexpectedly had a quarterback issue in 2019 after Andrew Luck’s shocking retirement, and it’s questionable whether he ever really addressed the issue outside of Philip Rivers’ one-season cameo in 2020.

Anthony Richardson is raw and undeniably talented, but he has also completed an abysmal 50.6 percent of his passes in his two-year career.

As for coaches, Ballard inherited Chuck Pagano before hiring Frank Reich in 2018 and Shane Steichen in 2023.

In Miami, Chris Grier has served as general manager since 2016, with five winning seasons (possibly six) and three playoff berths (possibly four), depending on how Week 18 plays out.

He brought a number of talented players like Tyreek Hill and Jalen Ramsey to Miami, and the hiring of Mike McDaniel has proven fruitful, although Grier and the organization have stuck with quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, who has had success as a healthy player, but significant ones had injury concerns.

The 2024 season was overall a bigger disappointment in Miami than in Indianapolis because the Dolphins are now built to win. However, injuries undoubtedly played a role in a mediocre season.
