Karol G documentation set for 2025

The Bichota season continues. Karol G will tell her inspiring story in a Netflix documentary next year.

The Colombian superstar announced the news with an Instagram post. “A story born from dreams that seemed impossible, fueled by unwavering faith,” Karol G wrote in the caption. “My life, my work, my truth and the strong connection I share with all of you,” she continued, referring to her fans. She went on to call the documentary a “dream come true.”

Although there is no title yet, Netflix described the documentary in a statement as “an intimate portrait of a global music icon” that promises to portray “the woman behind the artist.” Cristina Costantini, who also produced the Netflix documentary about the famous astrologer Walter Mercado, is directing and producing. Additional producers include This Machine in collaboration with Interscope Films and Bichota Films.

Karol G’s successful career has lasted more than a decade. She has been a singer since she was 14 built a music career by auditioning for the Colombian version of The X FactorIndie label deals, tireless touring and lots of hustle and bustle. The singer finally found mainstream fame in 2016 when she signed with Universal Music Latino. Just a few years earlier, the same label had rejected her as a reggaeton act because she was a woman and instead offered her a contract as an in-house songwriter.

Despite numerous setbacks, Karol G has established himself as one of reggaeton’s most influential stars, breaking a dizzying number of records along the way. She recently became the first woman to win two consecutive Latin Grammys for Best Urban Music Album and was the first musician to get her own Bratz doll.

In your 2023 Rolling Stone In the cover story, Karol reflected on her success, saying: “I imagined I would achieve many things in my life, but actually I never thought it would get to where it is today. Reaching so many people, touching so many people in so many different aspects – it still blows me away.”
