Controversial post leaves “Squid Game” star Park Sung-hoon in distress amid national mourning over Jeju Air tragedy

SEOUL, Jan 1 – Park Sung-hoon’s star was on the rise after his scary portrayal of a villain Queen of Tears and his highly anticipated role in Squid Game Season 2.

Fans were particularly impressed by his complex character in the survival drama, in which he played a transgender woman – a role that initially raised some concerns but ultimately earned admiration.

However, the actor’s reputation has suffered following a recent scandal involving an inappropriate Instagram post.

On Monday, Park accidentally shared a parody of Squid game with AV actresses on the cover of an erotic film.

The actresses depicted in an explicit parody of the show were naked in the picture.

Although Park quickly deleted the post, the damage was already done: screenshots spread across online communities and sparked outrage among fans.

The timing of the post only made the situation worse.

It came shortly after the tragic Jeju Air crash that killed 179 passengers, including K-pop fans returning from the 2024 Asia Artist Awards in Bangkok.

South Korea has entered a period of national mourning in light of the disaster, making Park’s post particularly insensitive.

Park’s agency, BH Entertainment, immediately responded to the controversy and clarified the situation.

They explained, “Park Sung Hoon received a lot of DMs on social media and accidentally uploaded them while checking the DMs. The actor himself is also surprised and apologizes for making such a mistake during these times. He will make sure something like this doesn’t happen again.”

Despite this apology, many fans remain unconvinced.

“Is it part of? Squid game“Is it a contract that the male actors should all be evil or something?” one user asked.

Another wrote: “At this point you have to be disgusting to be thrown in Squid game – as if it were some criteria.”

In response to his behavior, some fans suggested a complete cast change for the upcoming drama The Tyrant’s Cookwhere Park is supposed to appear opposite Yoona.

“Nobody. Please save my Yoona, please change the male lead, it’s not too late,” one comment read.
