Freezing rain is possible at the weekend

Western North Carolina to see impacts from winter weather

Happy Saturday! The rest of the snow in the mountains has cleared and will result in mostly sunny skies, with highs in the upper 40s for the Upstate and near 40 for WNC. Light breeze but an improvement on yesterday. Today is definitely the best day of the weekend! Sunday should start out dry before isolated showers later in the day. As temperatures drop Sunday evening, there is a chance of a wintry mix/ice developing across WNC. Minor ice accumulations may occur Sunday night through Monday morning, causing slippery patches along roadways and even power outages. While it doesn’t seem to be widespread or common (relatively speaking), it doesn’t take much to make travel difficult, especially after the holidays when everyone gets back on the road. On Monday, all remaining activities will be gradually eliminated. except that some snow may accumulate near the TN/NC line. Otherwise there will be sunshine and even colder temperatures until the end of the week. Track rain and storms on the interactive radar here. Check the latest alerts in your area here.
