Will Interstellar 2 ever happen? Possibilities explored

Hope for Interstellar 2 This is like asking a chef to prepare another dish of that cuisine to eat so that the chef’s time is wasted and we may not be able to eat it. Chances are it won’t have the same essence. On the contrary, it could end up tarnishing the chef’s image and we will be the ones who leave those stains if we don’t like the kitchen.

Christopher Nolan’s 2014 film had an ambiguous ending, meaning it has no obvious meaning. And that certainly doesn’t mean that Nolan planned it so that there could be a sequel. If that were the case, we would have the second one beginning Film; we don’t. According to reports, there is currently no possibility of making the sequel to Interstellar.

However, it is up to Warner Bros. and Paramount Pictures to decide who owns the copyright to the film. There has been some tension between Chris and Warner Bros. due to the latter’s decision to implement the hybrid release model for their films with HBO Max in 2021.

What are the chances that Interstellar 2 will come to fruition?

Christopher Nolan and WB have apparently sorted out their issues, as Michael De Luca has expressed interest in working with the acclaimed director again. However, we cannot say for sure whether this project will be implemented Interstellar 2 even if they shake hands again.

Then the story speaks for itself as Nolan never created a sequel outside of Nolan The Dark Knight Trilogy. This was also because Nolan wanted to tell the origins of Batman, something that had never been seen before in the films starring the wealthy American industrialist in Gotham City.

But it’s not like Christopher Nolan is a total no-no for sequels. In an interview with Associated Press he stated:

“In Hollywood there is always a balance between established titles that can ensure a return and give people more of what they want. That’s always been an important part of Hollywood’s economy.”

However, there can always be a sequel; it just has to make sense. So we can say that Interstellar 2 is a possibility, but that depends solely on future discussions, if they take place.

Why might Interstellar 2 prove to be a bad idea?

It’s quite simple: fans are downright happy with the film and many are not so happy Interstellar follow up. Even if the team involved returns, the fans are still intact and there is no sequel at all.

A Reddit thread sheds more light on the matter. On a fan subreddit for the film, someone asked if people would be interested in watching it Interstellar 2, and the reaction turned out to be unfavorable for the film.

One fan said:

“No, even if it were the same crew and the majority of the same actors, I just don’t see any advantage…”

Another fan stated that there was no need for a sequel to the film. He said:

“This was so good that you could 100% rewatch it (no matter how many times), no follow-up needed, no follow-up wanted, Please leave that alone.

Many would like a sequel, but it all depends on the story that needs to connect. When something is already perfect, like in Nolan’s film, adding something to it risks losing its essence. Interstellar It’s a box and unboxing it for further touch-ups can end up being pretty bad. However, the chances are less if Christopher Nolan takes over the supervision.
