John Obi Mikel says the £15million Nottingham Forest player has been incredible this season

Nottingham Forest have put in a number of positive performances this season and the team has taken a top spot in the Premier League.

The Reds will need to continue their good form at Molineux tonight as Nuno Espirito Santo looks to secure a sixth win in a row against his former club.

Espirito Santo has been praised by pundits this season and he has quietly taken on the task of proving that most people are wrong about his coaching credentials.

Forest have 37 points from 19 Premier League games and things are definitely looking good for the Reds, who have exactly half of their remaining games to play.

Alan Shearer recently praised Elliot Anderson, but it is another former Newcastle player who is also regularly making headlines this season.

John Obi Mikel praises Nottingham Forest star Chris Wood

The former Chelsea player spoke about Forest in his latest episode of the Obi One Podcast.

Of course, given Forest’s track record, the team is a hot topic of discussion at the moment and it’s refreshing to hear positive comments for a change.

Wood is a player in good form and with 12 goals this season he picks up right where he left off last season when he scored 14 goals in the Premier League.

Mikel was impressed with Wood and raved about him on the latest episode of his podcast.

He said: “I saw the goal he scored against Everton, it just shows a player playing with so much confidence.”

“We know Chris Wood can waste a lot of chances but the way he scored the goal, he just put it over Jordan Pickford. To me it shows a striker who plays with full strength and so much confidence.”

Forest must tie Chris Wood to a new contract

Talks are ongoing between Forest and Wood about a new deal and a solution must be found as quickly as possible.

The player has proven to be a brilliant signing for the Reds and it is no surprise that Eddie Howe praised Wood when he left Newcastle.

Wood has proven everyone wrong and given his goalscoring ability, Forest simply can’t let him get away with nothing in the summer.

Despite being 33, Wood is still in good form and that alone should see Forest do whatever it takes to get him to stay at the club beyond the end of this season.
