‘Landman’ star reveals whether the show will return for season two

Countryman on Paramount Network is nearing the conclusion of its first season and one of its stars, Michelle Randolph, spoke about a possible second.

Given the popularity of the series, fans are wondering if the series will be renewed for a second season.

What you should know

One of the show’s breakout stars, Michelle Randolph, who plays Norris’s feisty daughter Ainsley Norris, spoke to her Newsweek about the possibility of Countryman Returning for a highly anticipated second run.

“I think there is so much more of the story to tell. “So if we do a second season, I know for a fact that everyone would be over the moon to do that,” Randolph said. “I don’t think anyone wants to stop telling the story.”

It’s set in the heart of the West Texas oil fields and is based on the documentary podcast BoomtownIn the drama, Oscar winner Billy Bob Thornton plays Tommy Norris, a crisis manager at an oil company. In addition to Thornton, there is a star-studded cast that includes Demi Moore, Jon Hamm and Ali Larter.

More than 14.9 million people watched the series in its first four weeks on Paramount+, making it the streaming service’s most-watched television show, according to the network.

The show’s other stars, including Moore and Thornton, had also spoken about the likelihood of a second season Countryman.

At the time of writing, neither Paramount Network nor Sheridan have confirmed a second season.

What people say

Demi Moore said in May per Deadline: “I thought we looked really good. He was lovely and I’ve known Billy Bob Thornton for a long time. I have already completed the first season and am looking forward to us starting the second, which will take place at the beginning of next year.”

Billy Bob Thornton told TheWrap in November: “I signed up for this. Ten years ago I wouldn’t have enjoyed it. But now there is a different perception. All actors want to be on streaming now. You can develop a character there. What.” Doesn’t a director, writer or actor want to make a film that isn’t condensed to an hour and a half?”

Michelle Randolph gave Newsweek a hint of what’s to come at the end of the first season: “The stakes are increasing and we are becoming more and more emotionally invested in the characters and the story. I think everything is becoming more fleshed out and the family dynamic is really strong…It’s a great season.”

What’s next?

There are two episodes left Landman’s Debut season. Episode 9, titled “WolfCamp,” will be released on Paramount+ on Sunday, January 5th, and the finale, titled “The Crumbs of Hope,” will be released on Sunday, January 12th.
