LSU coach Kim Mulkey carries a basketball hoop as her latest courtside ensemble

Kim Mulkey gives new meaning to the term crinoline!

The LSU women’s basketball coach — who is known for her outrageous attire on the sidelines — wrapped a basketball net around her waist on the team’s sideline against Auburn on Sunday, Jan. 5.

For the match, Mulkey, 62, wore a black sweater with a basketball and his backboard on the front, red pants and a red belt that looked like a basketball hoop that flowed into a frayed skirt with basketball nets.

The eye-catching outfit complemented the overall performance of their players. The No. 6 Tigers defeated the other Tiger team 73-63, extending LSU’s winning streak to 17 games.

After the game, Mulkey shared a backstory about the backboard-and-net ensemble.

“I’m not going shopping, this was dropped off at the house, maybe on Friday? And I wasn’t even there,” Mulkey told reporters.

She added, referring to the clothing brand, “They sell this stuff, Queen of Sparkles, I told y’all. ‘I have to do a NIL deal with them.’

While the legendary coach is working on possible side hustles, her commitment to her game day efforts is nothing new.

The Louisiana native’s fashion highlights so far include a sequined tiger-print suit by Nadine Merabi, a St. Patrick’s Day special “Kiss Me, I’m a Queen,” a green-stitched sweater, and a sparkly rainbow sequin duster coat paired with black pants and a tight pink cami.

During March Madness in 2023, Mulkey drew attention wearing a green and pink floral tweed blazer with bright pink ostrich feathers running down her arms with white pants and bright pink pumps.

All of which means that Sunday – which was also “Dress Like Kim Mulkey Day” for fans at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center – was a given.

“Look at all the glitter out there,” the LSU coach since 2021 told reporters. “It hasn’t been like that since I’ve been here.”
