Mestalla has a checkered past when it comes to Vinicius Jr., with the Brazilian striker being the subject of violent racist abuse in May 2023, sparking outrage across the global sporting community.

In the recent clash between Real Madrid and Valencia, Mestalla once again became the center of attention.

The biggest highlight of the game was Vinicius Junior being banned for two games after receiving a red card. However, Real Madrid claimed the striker was once again the subject of racist abuse.

La Liga rejects Real Madrid’s claim

However, as Diario AS reports, La Liga has rejected claims from Real Madrid that Vinicius Jr. was racially abused during the game against Valencia.

La Liga emphasizes that no racist insults against violence, racism, xenophobia and intolerance in sport have been reported to the RFEF.

Real Madrid had argued in its appeal that Vinicius Jr. had suffered “serious racist insults” immediately before his sending off, which had not been acknowledged by the match officials.

On the other hand, La Liga has taken note of the offensive calls directed at Real Madrid from the Mestalla stand in Gol Sur.

In fact, they listed ten such comments that were deemed questionable.

While these chants were offensive, they were not considered racist by La Liga standards, leading the organization to report them for inciting violence or intolerance, rather than racism against Vinicius specifically.

Valencia striker Sergi Canos had previously rejected accusations of racism against Vinicius in the stadium.
