Callie Brownson joins USA Football as Senior Director of High Performance & National Team Operations

Brownson has broken barriers throughout her coaching career. In 2018, Brownson became the first woman to coach full-time in Division I college football after accepting a position as offensive quality control coach for Dartmouth College under head coach Buddy Teevens.

She first got her start in the NFL in 2017 when she worked as a college/professional recruiting intern for the Jets. She then completed an internship with the Bills in 2019 before accepting a full-time position on Sean McDermott’s team.

She also shaped football during her active career. Brownson played eight seasons as a safety, running back and slot receiver for the DC Divas of the Women’s Football Alliance from 2010 to 2017, serving as captain five times and being named an All-American four times. The Divas won two championships during Brownson’s career.

Brownson is also a two-time goal medalist as a player for Team USA Women’s Football, first at the International Federation of American Football (IFAF) Women’s World Championships in Vantaa, Finland in 2013 and in Vancouver, Canada in 2017 as a member of the U.S. Women’s National Tackle Team . She served as head coach of the 2022 Women’s US Tackle National Team, which won the program’s fourth consecutive World Championship.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to join USA Football and help the U.S. national teams continue their international success in flag and tackle football through the 2028 Olympics and beyond,” said Brownson. “This is a historic time for football’s global growth with the Olympics just around the corner. I’m excited to be a part of what USA Football is building as we look to maintain our standards in the face of increasing competition around the world.”
