The Terraria 1.4.5 update is being pushed back to 2025 to make it feel “just right.”

The Terraria 1.4.5 The update is now scheduled for 2025, as developer Re-Logic confirms that it wants to make sure the major overhaul feels “just right” before sending it out into the world. The announcement comes as part of a new Terraria State of the Game for November, meaning that while we won’t be able to play the next patch this year, we’ll still get some pretty juicy spoilers for one of the best PC games of all time. There are some fantastic new features coming this week that will help you grow trees to unprecedented heights.

“Work on the final lists of all development team members is nearing completion, which is great progress,” writes Ted “Loki” Murphy, head of business strategy at Re-Logic, in the new update. “Still, we’re pretty sure there’s no way Terraria 1.4.5 will be released this year.” The patch, touted as the last, final (final) update for one of the best sandbox games, has gradually become one tiny series of fixes and tweaks evolved into a colossal overhaul in true Re-Logic style.

Terraria 1.4.5 Update – The player uses an acorn slingshot to plant trees.

“Year-end releases (particularly if you’re trying to synchronize the release across PC, mobile, and consoles worldwide simultaneously) carry risks due to review cycles and early holiday departures,” explains Murphy. “We were hoping we would get things sorted before the end-of-year mess, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. We also won’t force anyone on our team or anyone else’s team to commit to an arbitrary deadline. The next Terraria update will be postponed to 2025.

“We’re sure this won’t be welcome news for many, but we remain committed to being a quality-first studio and will therefore take the time necessary to ensure each update is ‘just right.’ ‘ feels,” Murphy continues. “We believe everyone will appreciate this time and care once the update is released. I’m sorry it took so long, but it will be worth it.” It’s an approach that Re-Logic has always stuck to, and the quality of its releases shows – I always like to wait until everything is fully finished .

With that news out of the way, Murphy goes over the upcoming Palworld x Terraria crossover in 2025 and gives us some teasers for 1.4.5. This month we’re learning a new, far more convenient way to plant acorns by firing them remotely instead of having to plant them manually. Terraria creator Andrew “Redigit” Spinks confirms that this is happening with a new slingshot, but the animation is not currently ready for it. Either way, it should make one of the most cumbersome tasks a lot easier and more fun.

We also take a look at a new infused fertilizer. Applying this to trees will immediately make them grow much taller than usual, allowing you to create the kind of tall forests that usually only appear during the initial Terraria map creation process. This is handy if you want a particularly dramatic aesthetic, but it should also help you get more wood out of each tree. However, we can’t see how to make it yet. “Sorry, that’s a trade secret,” Re-Logic teases.

Re-Logic will release the Terraria 1.4.5 update in 2025. We’ll be sure to let you know as soon as we have a confirmed date for the patch, but in the meantime, you can keep up with the latest developments in the community thanks to the full State of the Game post in the forums.
