This January 13, 2025 Orlando Bloom be celebrated 48 years. Known for his roles in The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, Troy or even the saga pirates of the Caribbeanwe met him during an interview for Interviews in which he talked to us about his beginnings, his career, his status as a sex symbol and his relationship to fame. A cult interview to rediscover on this Hollywood star’s birthday…

Interview: Is it true that your name is Orlando because your parents loved the city of the same name?
Orlando Bloom:Very funny! (Laughs) No. When I was born there was a lot of talk about Orlando Gibbons, an English composer. I agree, it’s not a name you hear every day! (Laughs)

As for your personal life, we have a feeling that you are very much in love. (He is currently in a relationship with Katy Perry, editor’s note. Red.) Love with a capital A, do you really believe in it?
If it didn’t exist, I don’t know why we would write movies and songs just about that!

How should you go about seducing her?
At first, don’t be too aggressive. What I like least is vulgarity and pushy approaches. I can’t stand hussies in miniskirts who giggle as soon as they say a sentence.

In England, the tabloids have been rating your sex appeal every week for a long time. Good for the ego, right?
It is particularly suitable for paper sales! Something like that doesn’t last anyway. At my age, I’m out of date! (Laughs)

You are too modest! Doesn’t this sex symbol image bother you too much?
No, as I said, it’s fleeting. In a few years, you’ll be asking this question to a new kid with two hairs on his chin, having his moment of glory…

Is it true that you got into cinema because it was the best way to raise girls?
I said that back then, yes. Do you know many jobs where you get paid to kiss girls? It was the dream!

You have fond memories of the film that made you famous, Lord of the rings ?
Yes! The only thing I had trouble with was learning the elven language. You don’t know English, do you? (Laughs)

You don’t seem to have a big head…
It’s simple: since I left drama school, I always knew that there were thousands of actors who were perfectly capable of doing what I do. So of course I remain humble.

Where do you get this strength from?
About my weaknesses! (Laughs) Luckily, I had to fight to get to where I am now, but we learn through suffering.

When you say you had a hard time, I assume you mean the odd jobs you had before the movies?
Yes, I did some odd jobs. And not the smartest! (Laughs)

Do you have an example?
I was a clay pigeon thrower. It sounds ridiculous, but it was great! At least for the time being… (Laughs)
