Jonathan Scott talks about the upcoming wedding

Don’t Hate Your House with the Property Brothers star Jonathan Scott opened up about his upcoming wedding to his fiancée, actress Zooey Deschanel.

In an interview with People magazine in January 2025, Scott shared that he and Deschanel, who got engaged in August 2023, hadn’t done much wedding planning due to their busy schedules.

“I can guarantee you that we did absolutely 0% more work. There’s just a lot going on for us,” Scott told the publication.

Scott also joked that he may focus more on wedding planning in 2025.

“Maybe that’s my New Year’s resolution – we need to get this wedding sorted,” Scott joked.

Jonathan Scott said he and Zooey Deschanel wanted a small wedding

While speaking to People magazine in May 2024, Scott said that he and Deschanel, who was previously married to Ben Gibbard and Jacob Pechenik, would like to have a small wedding.

“We know that the most important thing for us is to be surrounded by our loved ones. And we’re not planning a crazy, extravagant wedding. It’s going to be pretty intimate,” Scott, who divorced his first wife, Kelsy Ully, in 2013, said during the May 2024 interview with People magazine.

Scott made similar comments about his upcoming nuptials during an interview on “The Kelly Clarkson Show” in June 2024 alongside his brother and collaborator Drew Scott. Scott said that he and Deschanel “just want to have a kick party with everyone they love.”

“We won’t make it big. We’ll keep it nice and intimate. We haven’t made any concrete plans yet. Because we just have so much fun,” Scott said during the June 2024 interview.

During a joint interview with People magazine in October 2023, Scott and Deschanel shared details about their engagement. Scott said he had asked Deschanel’s parents for permission to propose to her while on vacation in Scotland “two and a half months earlier.” He said he took Deschanel and her children, Elsie Otter and Charlie Wolf, whom she shares with Pechenik, to Edinburgh Castle, where he popped the big question.

In an October 2023 interview with People magazine, Deschanel noted that she and Scott were introduced during production of a 2019 episode of “Carpool Karaoke.” She said they both enjoyed each other’s silliness and sense of humor.

“Our personalities are so compatible,” Deschanel told People.

Deschanel also said she was immediately struck by Scott’s kindness during an interview on “The Drew Barrymore Show” in 2022.

“I couldn’t believe he was so nice,” Deschanel said.

She also shared that Scott continued to be extremely kind to her throughout their relationship.

“We’ve been together for over three years and he’s still so nice. He likes to go over and fix things at my parents’ house. He’s so nice,” Deschanel said.
