Silksong fans believe the developer’s Switch 2 teaser hints at the game’s announcement in April – and it’s all thanks to a piece of cake

Desperate Silksong fans believe a new ARG hinting at the long-awaited game’s release date has begun and includes the Nintendo Switch 2 and a piece of cake.

Let’s break it down. Two days ago, Hollow Knight and Silksong co-creator William Pellen updated his social media handle, profile name, and picture to X.

His username is now @everydruidwaswr, his name is now “little bomey” and his profile picture is a snap. It’s this piece of cake that fans have now linked to Switch 2.

Why? Well, Pellen further tweeted: “Something big is coming. Tomorrow, keep your eyes closed.” Tomorrow means January 16th – that day, of course, was when Switch 2 was announced.

Maybe Pellen, like many others, only knew about the Switch 2 reveal? Or, say Silksong fans, maybe there is more!

A reverse Google search of the image of the cake slice actually turns up something strange: that it comes from a recipe site published on April 2, 2024. That’s exactly one year before April 2, 2025, when Nintendo will release a massive Switch 2 Nintendo Direct and properly reveal the console’s gaming lineup.

Could it be intentional? Over on the Silksong Reddit, fans say developer Team Cherry has previously left similarly labyrinthine clues. Fans also feel that an appearance in the Switch 2 Direct would be a sensible place for the game to finally become a reality.

Silksong’s launch landed on Eurogamer’s list of our most anticipated moments of 2025 – if it actually arrives this year after years of delays.

“Silksong is the fast-paced and fluid sequel that Hollow Knight deserves,” we said after playing a demo of the game – back in 2019.
