Unless this cake lies to you, Silksong will show up again in April

Team Cherry’s long-awaited Metroidvania Hollow Knight: Silksong will be revealed again in April, if a series of frantic Reddit posts about cake are to be believed. The usual approach to writing such fan theories is to take you step by step through the book, uncovering the layers like Inspector Clouseau. But I know you’re a busy person, so I’ll summarize it all in a single sentence: A Twitter account claiming to be a Silksong developer posted a tweet seemingly predicting the announcement of Switch 2 and using a profile picture of a cake from a recipe book that was published on April 2nd, 2024, exactly one year before April 2nd, 2025, the date of the Nintendo Direct announced in the Switch 2 announcement became.

The conclusion drawn from the Reddits above is that we’ll finally see Silksong on April 2, 2025 – because if the cake tweeter was right about announcing Switch 2, that ultimately means Silksong is a Switch 2 -Game is. and will be part of the console’s launch presentation. You can read a longer, more elegant version of this on Eurogamer.

You might have a hard time remembering what the hell Silksong is, beyond the endlessly collapsing core of a storm of competing signifiers. It’s the sequel to Hollow Knight, remember? They announced it in 2019. Ah, what an innocent time.

The game stars Hornet, a character from Hollow Knight, and is about a journey upward through “coral forests, mossy grottoes, gilded cities and misty moors,” while Hollow Knight was about venturing ever downward . Back in 2019, Team Cherry promised new skills and tools as well as over “150 new enemies.” It’s likely that a lot has changed – five years in gamedev is quite a long stretch. Here’s everything we know about Silksong at the time of writing.

So will we get any decent footage of Silksong at the big switcheroo in April? Maybe even a release date? I’m less convinced, not because I have any insider knowledge, but simply because I’ve played Portal.
