Matches, schedule after the divisional round

We’re one step closer to Super Bowl 59 as the divisional round of the NFL playoffs makes the field even tighter.

Six teams were eliminated on wildcard weekend. In the AFC, the Los Angeles Chargers, Pittsburgh Steelers and Denver Broncos were eliminated on the road. In the NFC, the seasons of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Minnesota Vikings and Green Bay Packers ended.

Compared to the weekend’s six wildcard contests, the division table only includes four games. Four more teams will join the group of eliminated teams when the playoff group reaches the final four, which advance to the AFC and NFC conference championship games.

Three of the final four teams from last year are still in the running to advance to the divisional round. Here’s everything you need to know about the 2025 NFL playoffs once the divisional round results are in.

How does the NFL playoff bracket work?

Since the 2020 NFL season, seven teams have taken part in the conference in the playoffs. The No. 1 seed will receive a bye on the first weekend of the playoffs as the division winner with the best record. The other division winners will occupy spots 2-4 and will be ranked by win-loss record, with tiebreakers used as necessary. The top three remaining teams by record in each conference make it as wildcard teams. They occupy places 5 to 7 and are also ranked based on their win-loss record.
