Ohio State leads the final college football NCAA re-rankings at 1-134 after the national title

This one was easy: Ohio State lands at No. 1 in the USA TODAY Sports NCAA reRank 1-134 after defeating Notre Dame 34-23 in the College Football Playoff national championship game on Monday night.

Notre Dame sits at No. 2, one win shy of the program’s first title since 1988. Rounding out the top Bowl Subdivision teams of 2024 are No. 3 Oregon, No. 4 Penn State, No. 5 Texas, No. 6 Georgia, No. 7 Arizona State, No. 8 Boise State, No. 9 Indiana and No. 10 Tennessee.

Despite losing two games to Georgia, including the SEC Championship, the Longhorns are 1-134 in the finals thanks to playoff wins over Clemson and Arizona State.

The Big Ten and SEC combine for 12 of the top 25, including five of the top six.

This is the first reassignment since the end of the regular season. Bowl results outside of the playoffs led to some major upsets: No. 12 Iowa State climbed 10 spots after beating Miami, No. 20 Illinois climbed seven spots after beating South Carolina and No. 31 Navy moved up 11 spots , after overtaking Oklahoma.

With this loss, the Sooners dropped 16th to 64th. The final re-ranking also drops 21st Alabama (minus eight), 42nd Georgia Tech (minus 13) and 60th Pittsburgh (minus 11).

There is no doubt about which team will finish last. No. 134 belongs to Kent State, the only winless team in the FBS.
