The Hornets’ Miller is out indefinitely due to a torn wrist ligament

The Charlotte Hornets announced Friday that second-year forward Brandon Miller will be sidelined indefinitely due to torn ligaments in his right wrist.

Miller was injured Wednesday during the team’s 117-112 win over the Utah Jazz.

An MRI revealed a tear in the scapholunate ligament in his wrist.

Miller, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, was held out of Charlotte’s 125-123 win over Chicago on Friday night because of what the team initially described as a “wrist sprain.” The Hornets announced the extent of the injury after the game.

“It’s one of those bittersweet things where you’re happy about the win but unhappy news about Brandon,” Hornets coach Charles Lee said. “I think we will continue to assess where he is and do as many tests as possible.

“We just have to band together and help him through his rehab.”

Miller, the No. 2 pick in last year’s NBA draft, is posting career averages of 21.0 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.6 assists this season, but has been plagued by injuries and appeared in just 27 games.

“It definitely hurts,” Hornets guard LaMelo Ball said of the injury. “I was in the same situation, my rookie year or sophomore year, whatever. I know how he feels, we just always have his back and look out for him. He and the whole team. This will help a little.’ I remember my situation, being with the boys, but I know these are difficult times.
