Play preview: Hurricane at Islanders

Welcome to the first day of a new chapter in the ice hockey of the Carolina Hurricanes.

One day after the commitment of the superstar wing player Mikko Rantannen from the Colorado Avalanche and the former first-over picking and hard trophy winner Taylor Hall from the Chicago Blackhawks are the Hurricanes in Elmont to compete against the emerging New York Islanders.

There is no official confirmation that Rantannen and Hall will be in the line -up today, but there were also no convening from Chicago to occupy the vacant strikers that were created by Martin Necas and Jack Drury’s departures to Colorado.

The Avalanche will compete against the Boston Bruins today, so he would create the short trip from Boston to New York in good time to be available, but we will see as soon as further information is available.

As for the opponents, the Islanders easily play their best ice hockey of the season, and at a time when they urgently needed.

They have won three times in a row and used a weak part of their game plan with victories over San Jose, Columbus and Philadelphia. This success series was preceded by a defeat of two games against Ottawa and Philadelphia, but before that they had three hard road trip games in Boston, Vegas and Utah.

In total, they won six of their last eight games and returned to NHL .500 with 20-20-7. However, this season is still a tough fight for moving into the playoffs, as they are only better in the east than Pittsburgh and Buffalo.

With two outstanding games, you are six points behind the Blue Jackets around the second Wildcard Square with two outstanding games.

Part of the New York success is due to a newly discovered division of labor on the network between Ilya Sorokin and Marcus Hogberg, which was outstanding this season as a replacement for Semyon Varlamov with a parade quota of 0.952.

Sorokin had scored the goal against the Flyers last night at the Islander victory, so keep an eye out for Hogberg, who will manage the cage this evening.

The Islanders have to do without the injured top defender Noah Dobson and yesterday committed the former Hurricane Tony Dangelo with a one -year contract to fill the gap in their blue line.

Dangelo applies to waiver because he played abroad this season, but if he is released until 2:00 p.m., he could possibly be in the line -up against his former team this evening.

Bo Horvat and Anders Lee share the table lead with 36 points each.

There is no morning skate for the Hurricanes today, but we will hear Rod Brind’amour at 5:15 p.m. to learn more about the line-up and the plans in the goal.
