Alijah Arenas commits to USC basketball in the show of NBA Dad Gilbert Arenas.

Eric Musselman was currently making his first big pointed in the recruitment scene in Los Angeles.

In less than a year at the head of the USC men’s basketball, Musselman has landed one of the best prospects for the nation’s high school basketball outlook in the Alijah arenas of Chatsworth High, the son of the former NBA All-Star Gilbert Arenas.

The arenas made the announcement in his father’s podcast, Gil’s Arena on Thursday afternoon.

“It felt like the best for me,” said Arenas about the decision. “I felt something special on campus.”

The signing shows more than just arenas and shows how serious Musselman is to recruit your own back yard. Keeping the talent home is a big coup on every college trainer. Musselman gets big points here.

According to 247SPorts.com, the arenas, which were approved by the 2026 to 2025 class in December in December. He chose USC via Kanas, Kentucky, Louisville and Arizona.

The 6-foot 6-Wachmann was selected this year as McDonald’s All-American after achieving an average of 31.8 points, 7.5 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game. Arenas is the first McDonald’s All-American to have been selected from the La City section since 2009 (Renardo Sidney, West Chest).

The father of the arenas, Gilbert Arenas, was an outstanding place in Grant High in the City Section before playing in Arizona and NBA. For Gilbert, who played for Eric Musselman when Musselman was the head coach of the Golden State Warriors 2002-03, it is a full circular moment.
