Brigit 2025: Dublin City celebrate women

Various venues, Friday, January 31 – Monday February 3rd February

The fourth edition of Brigit: Dublin City celebrates women back this Friday. More than 100 thematic events take place throughout the city and offer a celebration of the contributions from women to culture, society and history.

On Sunday from 3:30 p.m. this year’s Brigit Parade will begin at the head of the Capel Street, with a versatile procession with hikers, scooter skaters, brigids on bicycles, dancers and much more. More information here

Brigit 2025 IMBOLC Fair

Meeting House Square, Monday 12 noon to 4.30 p.m.

The IMBOLC Fair takes over the meeting house Square in Dublin for a third year and returns from 12 to 4:30 a.m. Enjoy music from DJ Louise Bruton, get a coffee and a delicious pleasure from Bahay, make a festive flower crown with flower pop and learn more about the art of the Black Forest with 9 Irons. This special event will be the legacy of the Celtic goddess Brigit – one of the most popular and powerful female characters Ireland – and the creativity, strength and resistance of women in the course of history and today.

Stories in the night concentrate on Brigit’s diverse legacy that covers a variety of topics such as wisdom, nature, rebellion and healing and represent an uplifting mix of spoken word, live music, poetry and personal anecdotes, including a few special guest speakers.

The special guests include the multidisciplinary artist Pippa Moloney, poet and performer of Dublin Natalya O’Flahery, singer-songwriter Farah Elle and Limerick activist Natasha O’Brien. More information here

Brigit: borderless & radical: Live -screenprinting with damn small print

Meeting House Square, Monday, 12 noon to 4.30 p.m.

Roll up your sleeves and try on the screen printing. Choose from two designs by Jill & Gill, which were commissioned especially for Brigit 2024 and 2025 entitled Brigit: borderless radical I & II – and let the experts from Damn Print Studio show you proudly on your wall. Kildares celebration of St. Brigid takes place over the holiday weekend and beyond and will be reminiscent of the St. Brigid by the theme of her mind, our history. The program includes several special St. Brigid’s Day Concerts and Events in cooperation with Hot Press, who will honor Brigid’s life. More information here

Brigid’s daily meeting in the Curragh

The Curragh RaceCourse, Co Kildare, Saturday, 7 p.m.

This free public concert will take place on February 1st at 7 p.m. at St. Brigid’s Day and celebrates the spirit of St. Brigid with some of the most important artists in Ireland – Sharon Shannon, Lyra, Irish women in harmony and more. More information here

Goddess Brigid workshop

Triskel Arts Center, Cork, Sunday, 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., 80 €/€ 40 €

Find your inner goddess in this workshop with goddess Brigid, which deals with healing and growth, and is based on the concept of IMBOLC and new beginnings. Under the direction of Lewis Barfoot, the day will dance, sang, move and a so -called complaint disease inspired by the tradition of KENING. But if all of this is done, you can relax with a cup of tea. It will take place on Sunday, February 2, in the Triskel Arts Center in Cork.

Féile na mban

In Bundoran, Féile Na Mban returns for his third year, with a weekend dedicated to the celebration of women. There are art and poems receptions, an open microphone night, a cocktail hour and a number of discussions on topics such as Grace O’malley, Ireland’s pirate queen. There will be knitting, printing and art workshops, or you can go to the craft market in the Bundoran community center to record something that is handmade on site. There are also DJ sets and live music evenings.

Biddy’s day

Brigid’s day bears many names, and in Killorglin you will find the unique traditions of Kerry-specific Biddy’s Day. The Biddy’s Day Festival focuses heavily on craft and tradition, where they see Biddy groups in straw hats, hold the Brídeóg dolls while taking lanterns and flaming torches through the city.

Brigid’s Cross Making

St. Reginald’s Tower, Waterford, Saturday, 11 a.m., 12.15 p.m. & 2pm; National Botanical Gardens, Dublin, Sunday, 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. and Monday, 12 p.m.

Come and see the technology that is made behind the traditional Brigid’s cross with step-by-step instructions and fresh rushes. The workshops will take place on Sunday from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. to 2 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 10.30 p.m. and on Monday from 2 to 10.30 p.m. in the National Botanic Gardens in Glasnevin. There is also a workshop in the St. Reginald’s Tower in Waterford. They carry out three workshops with limited rooms, so booking is of essential importance.
