Somerset-Wenn you haven’t caught a local stand-up show for some time, the joke is for you because you never know where a comedy icon appears in your own garden.

The SouthCoast Comedy scene has recently been weakened and has served a few unexpected treats for sold out crowds to find a night full of laughter from local acts in the entire region.

A little more than a week after a surprising appearance in the Belmont Club from Fall River, Matt Rife continued his SouthCoast comedy racetrack in Somerset on Tuesday, January 28th.

Rifes entered the recent pop-up show by Whale City Comedy in the Coffee Bar of the company, in which the comics in Massachusetts and the comics Kristy Kielbasski, Doug Key, LAD Dennis-Lopes and Jimmy Cash, based in Rhode Island.

“You have gone crazy. I have never heard that a 50-person crowd is so loud,” said Ashlie Thatcher, founder and director of the Whale City Comedy, from the star-occupied event on Tuesday. “This is the best part of the show for me.”

Rifes SouthCoast Comedy Circuit

According to Thatcher, they connected special “natural selection” to Netflix-through the comedy scene in Rhode Island, where the native Ohio-native recently bought a house, they have recently bought a house.

They planned to have Rife as a “funny surprise” for the guests in the local pop-ups from Whale City, while Rife has the chance to train his material in smaller places to prepare for his upcoming world tour.

“He tries to get as much stage time as possible. That’s why he comes to the South Coast,” she said.

Fall River was his first secret station in the SouthCoast. And the guests of the pop-up on Tuesday were hired with a long hour and 15 minutes to end the Somerset show.

“We had a great line -up and it was fabulous,” said Thatcher. “He crushes, it was so funny.”

Whale City Comedy, whose mission it is to expand the local comedy scene beyond big cities such as Providence and Boston, is known for its installation of pop-up shows and annual five-day comedy festival in the SouthCoast.

Thatcher said that pop-ups are great because they can transform every room into a comedy club.

“I really love to highlight great local companies throughout the South Coast so that we can appear from a boutique in Westport to a café in Somerset to a brewery to an art gallery. A funny event,” said Thatcher.

Comedy in the Coffee Bar is a win-win situation for everyone involved

And it is really a win-win situation for everyone involved, said Keith Viveiros, owner of the Society Coffee Bar.

“It is fantastic for the area in general and it is fantastic for comedy … to be able to organize something like this was really something special,” said Viveiros, who found Rifes Somerset Stop was published in social media.

This was not the first collaboration between Whale City and Society Coffee Bar.

The Somerset Shop organized earlier shows and presented sponsor for last year’s Whale City Comedy Festival, which brought 30 first-class comedians from Comedy Central, Conan and the Tonight Show to event locations in the region, including on board Rivers Schlachchiff Massachusetts.

Plans for the third annual festival that occurs on August 28th to 31st.

Can we still catch Matt Rife in the River case?

Mom is the word when or where – or even if he appears again in the SouthCoast, but Thatcher pointed out that it is a strong possibility.

“I would not be surprised if you see him again in another Whale City comedy show,” she said.
