Meerut, ABOVE:

A murder case has been lodged against seven men over the death of a 23-year-old man who was allegedly beaten up and urinated on by some people in Meerut last year, police said on Friday.

Ritik’s father Karan Singh lodged a complaint that the seven men, four of whom were involved in the incident a year ago, killed his son, Station House Officer (SHO) Shailesh Kumar told PTI.

Karan Singh told police that the accused had allegedly been threatening his son since he lodged a complaint last year.

In his complaint, he alleged that they kidnapped and killed Ritik, Shailesh Kumar said.

However, the autopsy report did not provide any precise information about the cause of death. The viscera have been preserved for further study and they will await the report to proceed with investigation and arrests, the official said.

According to the complaint, Ritik left the house on the morning of November 25, saying he was on his way to a job interview.

Later in the night, a man named Rahul called Ritik’s father and informed him that his son had been admitted to the emergency room of the Medical College where he was declared brought dead, the SHO said.

Earlier, police said Ritik went to a hotel with his friends to have a drink after which he felt unwell and died in the hospital.

The victim’s father told police that Mohit Thakur, Avi Sharma and Rajan allegedly beat Malik Ritik, urinated on him and filmed the incident in Jagriti Vihar area of Ashish city on November 13 last year.

The alleged video of the incident was shared online and went viral on social media.

Karan Singh had lodged an FIR at the medical police station in the matter under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.

Following the complaint, the four people, including the main accused, were arrested and taken to prison. They were later released on bail.

Karan Singh said that the accused had allegedly been threatening his son ever since he lodged a complaint in the matter.

He also alleged that three other suspects – Yuvraj, Rahul and Sonu Pahadi – who knew Malik, together plotted his son’s death.

Meanwhile, preliminary investigations into the matter are underway and further action will be taken based on the findings of the Viscera report, police said
