Renault Scenic E-Tech wins Scottish Car of the Year

The Renault Scenic E-Tech has been named Scottish Car of the Year by the Association of Scottish Motoring Writers (ASMW) in association with Arnold Clark.

The Scenic E-tech’s impressive comfort, range, versatility, build quality and design impressed the judges of its talented competition. In addition to the main award, it also secured the title of “Best Electric Family Car”.

Adam Wood, managing director and country manager, Renault Group UK, said: “The Renault Scenic E-Tech 100% electric has been designed for modern families. The jury’s reasoning behind this prestigious award underlines that it is completely unrivaled in its offering, combining optimal functionality, sophistication and comfort with a fantastic driving and ownership experience.”

The Scenic offers a range of up to 600 kilometers, a 545-liter trunk and up to 220 hp. It can also be charged from 15 to 80% in just 37 minutes via a 150 kW charging station (87 kWh battery).

Alasdair Suttie, ASMW President, added: “The standard of cars for SCOTY 2024 was exceptional throughout, so it always took a very special car to take overall victory and that is exactly what the Renault Scenic E-Tech is.” The Jury was impressed by its comfort, space, versatility and excellent handling. It brings together all the great values ​​of the Scenic name in an elegant design. A package that is affordable to buy and own and, just as importantly, a pleasure to live with.”

This year, Kia also won the Best Large Electric Vehicle award with the EV9, the Best Used Car Over £15,000 ($19,042) award with the Kia Sportage, and took home the Manufacturer of the Year award. Skoda won the ICE Family Car Title with the Kodiaq and the Polestar 3 was named Premium/Executive Car of the Year 2024.

Hyundai secured a one-two victory with the Sante Fe (Large ICE Car) and the Ioniq 5 N secured the “Performance Car of the Year” award. Other winners included the Suzuki Swift (Best Small Car), the Lexus LBX (Best Compact Crossover) and the Mazda Miata (Lifetime Achievement).

Previous Scottish Car of the Year winners have included the 1998 Ford Focus, 1999 Jaguar S-Type, 2000 Audi A2, 2013 Volkswagen Golf, 2016 Volvo V90, 2018 Jaguar I-Pace and the Hyundai Ioniq 6 from 2023.
