Find a Fur Baby: Meet Tony!

Submitted by Judith Levin

(November 29, 2024) – Tony is a long-time member of Animal Control and has no home. He is a Great Pyrenees dog, seven years old, neutered and up to date on all vaccinations.

Find a Fur Baby: Meet Tony!

This handsome boy will be your gatekeeper and watch over your home like a hawk. He loves being outside in the cold, crisp air, but he is not a dog that sleeps outside. He wants to be near you in the house and collapse into a nice, fluffy bed for a long nap.

Tony LOVES affection and will always be by your side. He will constantly nudge you to keep you from scratching his ear and back. Be ready for it! Treats are another thing Tony loves. He said on his Christmas list, a box filled with all of his favorite foods was the first thing listed.

Tony is an incredibly sweet, loving and loyal dog. There are some things he will need:

  • A six foot, secure, fenced yard.
  • No children because he is so excited and can pounce on them.
  • A low-key house without a lot of people coming and going. When visitors come by, he can be happy; A room where he can spend time alone would be a great solution. Maybe make a good movie to entertain him.
  • Previous experience with a livestock guard dog (LGD).

Please note that there will be several meetings with the potential adopter as he is slow and protective by nature. Tony has a small breed friend that he lives with at his foster home, so a submissive little dog would be fine. But Tony likes being the king. He has certain tendencies to conserve resources, so there will be some limitations to manage this. Tony really has a lot to offer and will make a great dog for someone. Please give him a chance.

If you would like to meet this amazing dog, call Animal Control at 860-434-1605, extension 244 or email [email protected].

Getting Tony a new home, along with his goodies, would be the best Christmas present he could ever have!
