Christian Woods possible return and effects on Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers were hit with several injuries at the beginning of the season when Christian Wood and Jarred Vanderbilt did not celebrate their debuts for 2024-25. When Vanderbilt recently returns, speculation is covered with when wood will be back. Throughout the season we had minimal injury updates about when we could see Christian back on the ground. After a blockbuster trade that shocked the NBA world, the Lakers have a slim front square. The Lakers received Luka Dončić, Maxi Kleber and Markieff Morris from the Mavericks. Dallas acquired Anthony Davis, Max Christie and the first round of Lakers 2029.

Update to wood

Wood has not played last season since February 14th. He missed the last two months of the 2023-2024 season with an injury to the left knee and had a first one arthroscopic Procedure on the knee in March. He would switch off the rest of the season and not return to the Denver Nuggets for her playoff series. Wood seemed ready to go before the training camp this year. Although he then suffered a setback and had to carry out further operation. For this reason, it was excluded at least four weeks more weeks in mid -November.

By December and January we have not received any clarification for when Wood will return. We have received calming news that he is making progress.

According to head coach JJ Redick after a Lakers training in December,

“He continues with Christian. We don’t necessarily have a set date for his return to play with us, but progress was good. Redick continued to expand what Wood is able to do on the square, on the square and the progress he made. “He does more on the square with obviously only individual work. His old age, he reaches 95%, 100% on the age. So he makes progress again and it looks like it would be back soon, apart from every setback that he is back with us. “

Lakers hopes that he can make a return regarding post -trade, which led to a lack of depth of the front costs without a precise time frame and two more months until the post -season.

Front court depth

The Lakers had to do with a lack of large men throughout the season. When the trading period approached, the conversations of lacers needed that need another great noise. The team had trouble, rebound and what seemed to be their most constant problem. Now, with Davis away, Jaxson Hayes has to climb up to help.

Many have speculated that LA will take another trade. This would add to add another front place to add the depth that you lack. It is possible that wood could be the answer. Although there is no defined schedule for his return, his progress and continuous journey can take a positive look. Wood played in the Dallas Mavericks with Luka Dončić in the 2022-2023 season. This cheerful connection could prevent the Lakers from giving up more to achieve a trade and achieve immediate effects between the two. Wood and Hayes together with the defensive guards and the strikers they now have would be more than enough to consolidate the front square and the defensive problems they had.
