Ben Simmons is a free agent.

Simmons and the Brooklyn Nets conclude a contract purchase, Shams Charania von ESPN reported on the NBA trade period on Thursday. Pro CharaniaThe three-time all-star will meet the Cleveland Cavaliers and Los Angeles Clippers from Friday. According to Chris Haynes, the Houston rockets are also in the mixture.

The Philadelphia 76ers selected Simmons with number 1 in the 2016 NBA draft from the LSU, but he missed the 2016-17 season with a broken foot. He returned the next season to win Rookie of the Year and provided three all-star appearances in a row from 2018 to 2011. But Simmons missed the entire 2021-22 campaign in the middle of his back injury, the psychological health problems and a later maintenance in the 76s, which meant that he was finally brought into the nets after the turbulent final route.

Since then, his career has been largely stagnating. He did not play in more than 42 games per season while he has to do with numerous injuries. In 33 games with the NETs this season, Simmons scored an average of 6.2 points and 6.9 assists. He will be a free agent later this summer.

Although he was not the player he was at the beginning of his career, Simmons has been his best – or at least most constant – since he ended up in Brooklyn. Charania reported that Simmons wants to join a candidate what the networks are not. They only organize a 17:34 record that rises against Miami Heat on Friday, one of the worst records in the Eastern Conference.

In theory, Simmons could deliver valuable minutes to both the Cavaliers and the Clipperers, should both teams pick him up. Cleveland holds a record of 41: 10 after a Summer victory against the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday evening, and the Clippers stick to place # 6 in the Western Conference.

Regardless of how it works, Simmons seems to be on the way to a fresh start earlier than expected. The change of backdrop could be enough to bring it back to shape for this next section of his career.
