Columbus Broadcast -Legende Jym Ganahl has died

Jym Ganahl, who worked on radio for almost 60 years, including his last seven years at ABC 6 before retiring last year, died.

Ganahl was died by his family for natural reasons last week. A funeral fair took place on Tuesday.

Jym worked at WCMH for almost 40 years until he retired for the first time. A year later, in 2017, he returned to television at ABC 6 and delivered weather forecasts for Central Ohio.

“I was so bored,” said Jym about his first retirement. “I was not ready to be in retirement … (ABC 6 gave me the happiest years of my career.”

Jym said he was only 12 years old when he started studying the weather, also because he got angry with the forecasts on TV “for missing snow forecasts for the missing school and I wanted to leave school”.

Five years later, said Ganahl, he entered a television station at the age of 17 and said: “I can do it better than the type you have and you took me.” “

When he announced his retirement in May 2024, Ganahl said that he was looking forward to spending time with his grandchildren, but wanted to make sure that the audience knows that he never felt the interruptions of admirers when he was public with his family .

“I love it,” he said. “I feel like a family member for everyone here nearby.”

ABC 6 wishes for comfort for the Ganahl family if they mourn for a legend.
