Neighbor Shelby County without water for weeks after the drilling project hits the line

Shelby County, Ala. (Wbrc) – Several neighbors in Shelby County are without running water after a construction project in the Lake View Circle community in Vandiver has hit a waterline.

Families rely on tanks that are placed in their front gardens and jugs of drinking water to get through.

The problem started a few weeks ago when at least five neighbors reported problems with their fountains.

What started with a neighbor’s fountain, spread quickly like a domino effect and left the entire street without water.

Stuart Holland, a neighbor, remembers the day of the water. “January 22nd was the day when we lost our water 11 a.m. I will never forget it. It was completely dry. “

Peter Adkins, another neighbor, shared a similar experience. “A few days later I am all over the line and the water. January 27, on my wife’s birthday. “

The neighbors appoint a good company to inspect the situation and the technician discovered unexpectedly.

“The fountain says: ‘You have water from this mountain. I don’t know how, but he leaves this mountain, ”said Holland.

The secret deepened and prompted two neighbors to continue examining.

They visited a nearby Power and Rem drilling project in Alabama, in which one of them had a shocking knowledge.

Tommy Fish, another neighbor, said: “His first words were” holy crap “. We had a blowout and then just clicked two and two.”

After that, the neighbors submitted an injunction to temporarily stop the project.

A judge has now instructed Alabama’s power to end the project and evaluate the damage to the fountain.

Alabama Power made the following explanation:

Alabama’s power appreciates the communities that we serve, deeply and is committed to their well -being. We are currently working on a project to strengthen our infrastructure by installing underground fibers in the existing road rights. This project is an important component to improve reliability and service for our customers.

About two weeks ago we learned that some residents near Vandiver who were served by private water wells had problems with their water source. We actively communicated with the residents concerned and provided support if necessary.

Alabama Power works around the clock to complete the project as soon as possible. After completion, we can fully evaluate all affected fountains and fix the matter immediately. Alabama Power remains committed to the affected residents, our customers and communities and remains in contact with those affected by this work.

Affected neighbors are currently being supplied with hotel rooms, drinking water and temporary tanks to meet their needs.

Tommy Fish expressed the uncertainty that many feel in this situation. “It’s a terrible thing because they just don’t know the strangers.”

The residents hope to receive further answers at their next trial, which are planned for Tuesday.
