Syracuse Crunch on the 45th anniversary of Miracle on Ice Game 22. February celebrates February 22nd

Syracuse, NY -The Syracuse Crunch celebrates the 45th anniversary of the Miracle on Ice game on Saturday, February 22nd, when the team organizes the Laval rocket.

On February 22, 1980, the hockey team of the United States defeated the four-time defending gold medalist Soviet Union in the medal round at the XIII Olympic Winter Games in Lake Placid, New York, for one of the biggest upset in the Olympic history. The team then defeated Finland to claim the gold medal.

The Crunch celebrates the 45th anniversary of the Miracle on Ice game with special jerseys that reproduce the Blue jerseys that the USA supported in the gold medal game at the XIII Olympic Winter Games. The jerseys are blue and offer white stars on both shoulders with red and white stripes around the neck, the elbows and the bottom of the sweater. Instead of “USA”, the jersey “Syr” in red with a white outline will have over the chest.

Immediately after the game, the crunch will hold a live auction on the ice for a limited number of jerseys with games.

Individual game tickets and ticket packages for the 2024-25 season are now available and can personally be purchased in the Crunch office at the Upstate Medical University Arena in Onondaga County War Memorial in 800 S. St. St. in Syracuse -4444 or online via Ticketmaster.
