Shelter-in-Place was raised after double shooting at ODU; No students involved

Norfolk, from the campus of Old Dominion University in Norfolk, was lifted after a shooting on Wednesday evening on the campus of Old Dominion University in Norfolk, in which two people were shot with life-threatening injuries.

No students were involved in the incident, said the Norfolk police, who was investigating.

The ODU police announced WTKR News 3 at 1 a.m. that the shootout took place in parking lot 3 in 49th Street, which is located next to the Dominion House’s residential building.

The participants were neither students nor were they connected to ODU, according to the campus police.

The area is located on the northern edge of the campus near Broderick Dining Commons. On the other side of the 49th Street there are several campus belief centers, and the next street north begins the neighborhood of Larchmont.

An ODU warning was sent to students and faculties that confirmed that the ODU police were examining the shootout.

“Odu urgent alarm: The ODU police examine a shootout. Painter is at the open.

The All Clear Alert was sent two hours later at 11:45 p.m.

“Odu urgent alarm: the shelter is canceled. Normal activities can be resumed. The police presence remains in the area.”

The victims were brought to the Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
