2 seriously injured in accident in Marlboro on Thanksgiving

MARLBORO, NJ – Two people were seriously injured in a car crash on Route 9 Thursday morning, Marlboro Police Capt. Stephen Levy said.

Levy said the accident occurred at 5:07 a.m. on Route 9 North between Union Hill Road and Route 520.

A Chevy Equinox, driven by a 77-year-old woman from Staten Island, New York, was traveling south in the northbound lane of Route 9 when it crashed head-on into a Subaru Impreza driven by a 28-year-old woman, according to police . old woman from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Both drivers suffered serious internal injuries and were taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick for treatment, Levy said.

According to police, there were no passengers in either vehicle and the road was closed from the time of the accident until 11 a.m

According to Levy, neither drugs nor alcohol were responsible for the cause of the accident.
