It will be the first time that the Argentine star has been playing at the Augusta event since 2019.

After Cabrera won the event in 2009, he knows exactly what it takes to win the prestigious green jacket.

But after six years, the 55-year-old will hope to make a big statement.

Cabrera skipped the champions in 2020 and 2021 during the height of Covid-19.

He then spent 30 months in a South American prison for domestic violence.

After Cabrera had been arrested in Brazil in 2021, he spent six months in prison after triggering an Interpol Termination because he had left Argentina without permission.

He was finally delivered to his home country of Argentina in order to issue charges for assault, theft and legal intimidation.

The 55-year-old was convicted of attacking and theft of the mobile phone of his former Parner Cecilia Torres before being convicted of another former partner, Micaela Escudero.

Cabrera served his sentences at the same time and said in his second process that his time behind bars “made him well”.

He opened himself for Golfweek and said: “It was a very dark chapter in my life and it gave me the opportunity to understand that I did things very wrong and it was helpful to understand that. Now I can be a good person.”

While he was recharged to the event in 2024, the invitation was unused due to an expired visa.

However, Cabrera is one of the 92 stars, which the Augusta National Golf Club listed as invitations for the 2025 event.

The former winners receive a lifelong liberation for the Masters and Cabrera recently won the United States and played on the Champions Tour at The Chubb Classic in Florida last month.

Ben Clenshaw, who moderates the Champions dinner since 2005, said he was looking forward to greeting Cabrera on the table for the first time since 2019 to honor defending champion Scottie Scheffler.

“I’m telling you something, I’m happy to see Angel,” he said.

“The focus of dinner will be on Scottie (Scheffler), but it will be great to have Angel back.”

The Masters is scheduled to take place between April 10 and August 13th in August.

Last year’s event was won by Scottie Scheffler with the American and hoped to win it in four years for the third time.

This would be his third success at the event – a long way from the overall record of Jack Nicklaus, who won the prestigious green jacket with no less than six occasions.
