“Vikings sign Gabriel Murphy to practice squad, make Daniel Jones signing official.”

The Minnesota Vikings are having their final practice session of the week before their game against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, but have announced a handful of roster moves that we want to bring to your attention.

The Vikings made the signing of former New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones official on Friday. We’ve already talked about this a bit, but today Jones officially passed his physical and is now a member of the club.

The Vikings also signed edge defender Gabriel Murphy back to the practice squad. Murphy, an undrafted free agent, spent the entire season on injured reserve before being activated on Tuesday and then waived on Wednesday. Frankly, I’m surprised at least one of the 27 (at least) teams ahead of the Vikings on the waiver priority list hasn’t tried to go after him, especially teams that may be looking forward to 2025. But no one did, and now he’s back with Minnesota.

To make room for Jones and Murphy on the practice squad, the Vikings released offensive tackle Julian Pearl and tight end Robert Tonyan from the practice squad. Pearl was not on the Vikings’ active roster this season, while Tonyan was selected by the team for three different competitions.

With these two new signings, the Vikings’ practice squad consists of the following players:

  • DL Travis Bell
  • G Henry Byrd
  • OLB Andre Carter II
  • RB Myles Gaskin
  • WR Lucky Jackson
  • WR Trishton Jackson
  • QB Daniel Jones
  • WR Jeshaun Jones
  • S Bobby McCain
  • LB Calvin Munson
  • OLB Gabriel Murphy
  • TE Nick Muse
  • RB Zavier Scott
  • WR Thayer Thomas
  • LB Max Tooley
  • CB Nahshon Wright

We’ll have the final injury reports of the week for you when the team releases them later this afternoon.
