Lucy Olsen, Hannah Stuelke and Sydney Affolter deserve all-big recognition

To the surprise of absolutely no one who saw Iowa Women’s Basketball this season, and last month Lucy Olsen was the way for Iowa in Nach season recognition and was awarded the first team for the all-Big ten selection of the first team.

The Senior Transfer was instrumental this year for Hawkeyes this year, especially lately (and especially against USC and Juju Watkins). In the conference, Olsen finished fifth in the conference with 18 points per game and 4.8 with 4.8 in the regular season. Her contributions in the late season in the late season were a big part of the success of the team. It is now the ninth season in a row in which a Hawkeye was introduced as an all conference player of the first team.

Hannah Stuelke was appointed the second team as the all-Big-Big-Zeen from the league media and the honorable mention of the coaches. It was a opening and expiry season for Stuelke who started the season at Power Forward, but could not find a groove with the crime. Her change to the middle triggered her offensive edition and was a key factor that the team was able to play his fast basketball style. Despite the fights, Stuelke still managed an average of 13 points and 7.9 rebounds per game, but many could see this season as a certain disappointment for the junior. The time will show whether she can really adjust to the four at College level or whether head coach Jan Jensen will keep it as a starting center next year before AVA Heiden.

Syd Affolter rounded off the team’s honors and was awarded an honorary mention by the media. She also received the big sportsmanship Award. The senior fought in the low season at times and found her foot in an expanded role, but like the entire team improved during the season. Her 8.5 points per game do not jump from the statistics sheet, but their 8.1 rebounds per game were felt in key moments when Iowa wanted to achieve many close wins.

Next, the Hawks start in Indianapolis for the Big Ten tournament with a cheap draw and a lot of momentum. Despite the ups and downs, the era of the Post-Caitlin Clark and Lisa Bluder from Iowa WBB was a lot of fun, and I am not ready to say goodbye to this squad soon.
