Trump lays new borders for Elon Musk’s authority in the middle of Doge counter reactions

President Donald Trump said that during a meeting on Thursday, he said his cabinet secretaries that personnel decisions were given to them, not Elon Musk and his Department of Government Efficiency.

Trump said that he had to work for cabinet members to work on spending and illnesses and at the same time to clarify that the final jobs are at the discretion of the department leaders.

“We had a meeting with most secretary Elon and others, and it was very positive,” said Trump about the social truth. “It is very important that we dismantle the levels where they should be, but it is also important to keep the best and most productive people.”

“If the secretaries experience and understand about the people who work for the different departments, they can be very accurate, who will stay and who will go. We say the ‘scalpel’ and not the ‘hatchet’,” added Trump.

The comprehensive cuts carried out by mastiff have had to complain, select reasons and increased concerns of the Republicans of the Congress.

Trump’s message was also a rare public restriction of Musk’s authority when he moved to improve the federal government and temporarily step on the toes of the cabinet secretaries.

Several members of Trump’s cabinet, when Musk recently ordered federal employees, to suspend their work or termination, with several agencies and departments initially handling the efforts.

At the same time, Trump also praised musk and Doge after the meeting on Thursday.

“I think you did a great job,” he said to reporters.

Musk called the meeting “very productive” in a post on X. It was his second time that he took part in a Trump cabinet seats. He dominated the first meeting last month when he described Doge as a “support function” to help the federal authorities “find 15% reduction in fraud and waste”.

Trump said reporters in the Oval Office on Thursday that his guideline was to his cabinet members: “Keep all the people they want.”

But he also indicated that Muschus would occur if the department heads did not make sufficient cuts.

“If you can cut it, it is better. If you don’t cut, Elon will make cutting,” said Trump.

Trump and Musk tried to drastically reduce the size of the federal workforce, to dismiss thousands of employees and to close entire agencies.

Some Republican members of the congress have been through the speed and intensity of the cuts and triggered demands for more transparency in Doges work, especially after some legislators were confronted with violent counter -reactions of people in the town halls in their districts.

On Wednesday, Musk met almost two hours behind closed doors with the Republicans of the Senate to clear out their concerns about the potential voters against the cuts.

Senator Rick Scott, R-Fla., Organized lunch after several Republican senators had expressed concerns about the non-formation of the White House last month.

Musk also met with the House Republicans on Wednesday and later said reporters that he spoke about the “opportunity to improve expenses in the government”.
