High hopes for the home start

It is Home Opener Week for New York City FC and that means that it is a time for anticipation and nostalgia in the Hudson River Blue Podcast.

Before he responds to the excitement and impact of the first home game of NYCFC of the 2025 season, hosts John Belley and Mark Radigan set up the 1-0 away rating against LAFC. This means to understand the attempt to understand the lack of decent NYCFC opportunities, try to find everything that went wrong with this Ryan Hollingshead goal of the 86th minute, and concentrating on some individual players who noticed for New York City at the first loss of the season.

Sorted the season opening road trip, the episode then pushes to the Big 2025 home start in the Yankee Soccer Stadium in the Bronx. Despite the start of the season of the victory and the Flux state of the squad, optimism about the first home game of the year is plentiful. We go into the details of the match-up and state that we are playing and who does not, but we also become nostalgically over former houses openers and earlier meetings with Orlando City.

Perhaps this is because NYCFC celebrated its 10th anniversary in this game, held Andrea Pirlo and returned to the team’s first campaign. The fact that the home start against Orlando City is played on the same date that these teams played in each of their existence in each of their existence in each of their existence will be a nice cherry on the nostalgia sundae.
