The fire that started all

The central event of Just a lookThe first year 2004, which was published as a novel in 2004, took place in 2009 when Greta survives a fire that destroys an old steel mill during a concert and leads to several deaths. Although she makes it alive, she is physically and mentally shaped by this tragedy, and throughout the story, her nightmares become a key to the bigger secret that will develop.

The photo arrives

On the 15th anniversary of the fire, Greta receives a mysterious photo on which her husband Jacek can be seen next to people who do not know. In addition to the attempt to understand why she received the photo at all, her attention is directed to the girl next to him, whose face is marked with a large red X.

The situation continues to be complicated when Greta asks Jacek if he is the man in the photo. He quickly denies it and leaves the house suspiciously and takes the photo with him.

The suspicion that Jacek could be involved in a kind of secret only stokes Greta’s curiosity to dig deeper into the secret.

Borys, the prosecutor, is committed

Greta learns from a prosecutor named Borys Gajewicz that the person marked with an X in the photo was his daughter, a girl named Alex who died 15 years ago. Borys is determined to uncover the truth behind the death of his daughter, and finds Greta in the course of this search.

Borys receives a call out of the blue to visit a killer named Marek, who serves a lifelong prison sentence. There he learns that the murder of his daughter was commissioned as a goal. Marek admits to be the perpetrator, but since he only got the name “Alex”, he did not know that his goal was a woman – an entire category of people he had previously refused.

Borys believes that Alex ‘death gives much more than in the eye. As he examines, he suspects a connection between Jacek and Alex. And he is right: it turns out that the two were called part of the same band.

In order to find answers, Borys lies and said Greta that Alex was pregnant with Jacek’s child before her death. Borys hopes that this will cause reactions of people with information that could lead to truth about his daughter. And this lies throws doubts about everything Greta thought about her husband.

In the meantime, Jacek remains missing, and when he finally contacted Greta, he asks her not to look for him, and says he needs space. The tension increases when the prosecutor reveals more details about Alex ‘friend’s past at the time of her death, Szymon Adamiuk, who was also in the central photo and seems to have disappeared without a trace. Even if the answers are received in relation to Alex, the secret of Jacek’s disappearance becomes more and more complicated.

Sandra, the lawyer, stirs things

Sandra, a lawyer who disappeared, contacted Jacek before he disappeared, soon reveals that she was more involved in the plot than we were originally led to faith. She has a connection to Laad and also knew important secrets about Alex ‘death and fire. Their loyalty is questioned when the story develops. At first she seems to look for the truth, but it soon becomes clear that she has her own agenda, manipulated the situation and hidden significant parts of the case to protect herself.

The photo with Jacek, Alex, Szymon and others becomes a symbol for the several layers of mysteries. Everyone in the photo is associated with a secret in any way. Every new detail that Greta reveals connects people and events to be stranger, and the truth seems to be darker than she has ever imagined.

The death of Jimmy

Jimmy, the singer who appears at the concert during the fire, becomes another character that is crucial for the disguise of the puzzle – although he hits premature death and is not run over by a car long after the encounter of Greta. Shortly before that, he gives Greta an important warning of the dangers that warn her and the secrets she is about to reveal.

He claims to have been deceived by Sandra and asks her to see a video that he has sent on a USB drive with evidence of this claim. But his death only throws the case deeper.

Revelations finally arrive

In the course of the final, the truth appears in a shocking way. Jimmy had told Greta that Jacek has been dead for 15 years. As a result, she begins to ask who the man with whom she really shared her life is really. The revelation that someone kills all people in the photo that Greta has received, creates a feeling of urgency and fear. When the police start to examine Jacek’s disappearance, she continues to strengthen the man Greta knows how her husband can be a fraudster.

Jimmy’s presence in Greta’s life is also mysterious. He knew much more than he allowed, and his warnings – “Jacek is dead, and they were there, behind the stage” – caste doubts about the version of events that Greta believes. The kidnapper of Imposter-Jacek will soon be revealed as Robert, a committed killer who works for Sandra.

Memories return

When Greta remembers the events that she had forgotten for 15 years, her mind is flooded with new information. She realizes that Szymon actually runs out as Jacek, who died in the 2009 concert after a fight with Jimmy Backstage. Jacek had accused Jimmy of stealing the song “Just One Look” that Jimmy claimed. When they got into a physical struggle, Jacek tried to stab Jimmy, but was hit with the sharp object and died.

Jimmy had been held into a conflict with Jacek. Sandra, who reveals herself as Jacek’s sister and whose existence Greta was not even aware of, orchestrated her failures. After the incident, she made Jimmy transferred the right to the song in her name so that she could claim the license fees.

Sandra started the fire to hide the truth about the death of real Jacek. She convinced Szymonto to take over her brother’s identity and offer him part of the license fees of the song so that he could earn money that he urgently could pay for his mother’s operation.

Greta and Szymon

After being saved, Greta’s husband – Aka Szymon – is unconscious in the hospital, but when he wakes up, he apologizes to her. He didn’t want to fool her, but after falling in love with Greta in front of the fire, he thought they could be together when he found her again after taking Jacek’s identity.

Szymon does not suffer a cardiac arrest long after his rescue and dies so that Greta is destroyed. Two months later, Borys reappeared and revealed that he was the one who had sent the photo to Greta, and marked his daughter’s face with a X. He thought that the pull in everything would help him finally discover the truth about what had happened to Alex after Marek had admitted that he was hired to kill her.

It turned out that Borys knew all the time that Jacek was dead; Greta was only a farmer in his larger scheme for answers.

In a flash, the series ends with the fact that Greta is reminiscent of an important detail: it was the one who had taken the photo that started the whole secret primarily.
