Sixers Rookie Justin Edwards shows goals, praises Kelly Oubre Jr.

Camden, NJ – The Philadelphia 76ers have 20 games in a hard season for them on the ground with all the injuries and adversity they had to go through. Joel Embbiid only played 19 games while Paul George deals with his own injuries.

Against this background, the Sixers can get their younger players important repetitions with the injuries. Philadelphia will try to develop his teenagers and to maintain the repetitions that have to develop for the future.

Justin Edwards will try to take further steps for the future. So far he has achieved an average of 8.4 points and 3.1 rebounds in 29 games and will try to develop for the 2025-26 season.

“Just to continue to improve myself,” said Edwards about his goals for the last section of the season. “I have the feeling that it helped me to get the opportunity to play, just continue to work on my craft and to do what the coaches need me.”

With all the injuries with which the Sixers have to do, Edwards opened the door in which he gives Philadelphia a perimeter scorer. As a driver, he led to the basket and able to achieve higher defenders.

“Yes, and the game slows down a little more for me,” added Edwards. “Then when people like Tyrese (Maxey) and all the people we are, it is more the opportunity for me to drive the ball in my hand. So I just take advantage of it.”

An important influence in the rookie season of Edwards was the experienced veteran Kelly Oubre Jr., who was now in his ear in his 10 -season and listened to Edwards’ questions when he wants to help him promote his development for the season.

“He was really important to me,” said Edwards about Oubre. “He was a lot on me. Just because he is also left -handed and he also sees a lot of growth for me. He always tells me that he should only believe in myself and think a lot more. That is probably one of the greatest things he tells me all the time.”

The Sixers will take over against the jazz of Utah jazz on Sunday before taking the street on Monday to face the Atlanta Hawks.
