Juan Soto’s latest revelation is an absolute intestinal punch for Nationals fans

Think back of August 2, 2022. Do you remember where you were when you have the news? I definitely do it.

While the trade pointed out that the Nationals fans had a long reconstruction before winning baseball again, Soto was still involved after the backback season with only 71 victories.

Now, when Soto had signed the biggest contract in the history of sport with the Divisions Rival New York Mets, he recently appeared in the abrasion podcast, where he made some claims that certainly felt some mixed feelings.

Soto spoke about his departure from the Washington National: “If the nationals had put together a competitive team, I would have signed the contract extension for less than what they offered me (440 million US dollars).” What it is worth to say for what it is worth if you have just paid 765 million US dollars for a breeze.

Look, obviously in retrospect, 20/20 is, as the old saying says, but I’m just not 100% positive, how honest Soto was in this case. Obviously, this 2022 team was not great, in fact the team was one of the worst team that we had seen since the early days of the Nationals, and their record of 55-107 was rather reflective on how bad the team was built.

The pitching in this team was absolutely miserable, and the line -up outside of Josh Bell and Soto was also cruel. I can certainly understand that Soto uses this as his argument not to sign the expansion, but if your agent Scott Boras is, who is known that his customers meet free agency, no matter what to maximize his customer’s income, would he ever sign the deal beforehand? I don’t think so.

While fans like me believed that the team could sign him again in the past seasonal season, it does not seem as if something seriously came about, although the team now has much more to offer than before. I gave the Nationals a chance of 2%to bring him back at the beginning of the Free Agency, and I don’t think the learners had paid as much as the METS. However, it is strange to ask why Soto DC loved as he claimed why he would not entertain the opportunity to return to the organization that had become astronomical better since his departure? For me it does not add up, especially since Soto signed for less money at the METs than he was offered by other teams, and I am quite confident that he would always meet a free agency, no matter what happens.

If it is true, it is obviously a stomach for US National fans who patiently wait for the team to move up again, but the reality of the situation is that Soto would have been part of some teams in the next few years, since the organization of one of the worst farm systems in sports had escaped. This trade has changed the future prospects of the organization for the coming years, and it would be quite difficult to argue that it was not better at this point.

I will always love Juan Soto and everything he did for the Washington National Organization, but I don’t buy that he would have signed the expansion if the team were better. Do you agree? As always, please let me know on X, @dcberk.
