TJD sees the task of the G Liga as an opportunity not to downgrade Warriors

TJD Views G League task as an opportunity, not the downgrading of Warriors originally appeared in NBC Sports Bay Area

San Francisco-Trayce Jackson-Davis is not downgraded. He gets an opportunity.

At least the Warriors Center sees the Golden State G League, the Santa Cruz Warriors, the Golden State partner, playing the Golden State G League on Sunday.

“I think it’s going to be great for me,” Jackson-Davis told NBC Sports Bay Area on Saturday before the Warriors played against the Detroit Pistons.

The trainer of Warriors Development, Seth Cooper, who was previously Santa Cruz ‘head coach, turned to Jackson-Davis and the 25-year-old immediately took on the scenario. Every other thought never penetrated him. One chance of playing in a game is something that he would never reject.

The first thing Jackson-Davis did was to name his agent James Dunleavy, the younger brother of Warrior’s general manager Mike Dunleavy. Both Dunleavy brothers and the Warriors’ team of coaches repeated Jackson-Davis, this is not a punishment. He never considered it.

The simple fact is that Jackson-Davis has not played consistent minutes for more than a month. After his second NBA season as a start center of Warriors, Jackson-Davis was a DNP (not played) in 10 of the Warriors’ last 16 games.

His last start was on January 28th when Jackson-Davis played only six minutes in an 11-point victory against Utah Jazz. In the few games that he has played since then, nobody has shown more than eight and a half minutes on the floor on the floor.

“I will get repetitions, additional repetitions since I haven’t played since my minute-my feet to get back below myself, to get my wind again, I think it will only be good for me,” said Jackson-Davis.

In the regular season there are only five weeks left. The Warriors still have 19 games of the regular season. Trainer Steve Kerr believes in the last month, plus, Jackson-Davis is again required for Warriors’ NBA playoff push.

“He is only out of rotation, but that doesn’t mean that he cannot get in again,” said Kerr on Saturday in his press conference before the game. “This is how it usually works. I spoke to him and he totally understands it. Tomorrow it is all about getting rhythm, and we are here at Chase, so he will get a really good run.

“I would bet almost everything in these last, whatever we have, 19 games, he will find his way in the rotation at some point. He just has to stay ready. “

This way of thinking worked for a handful of young warriors this season. The Santa Cruz pipeline was as strong as always. Players like Quinten Post, Gui Santos, Pat Spencer and Kevin Knox become real participants, earn numerous days and playing time.

Each player would prefer to be on the pitch than on the sidelines, but even from the bank, Jackson-Davis believes that as a player and teammate, he is getting better and better by absorbing as much knowledge as possible.

“You can still learn a lot, especially when Jimmy (Butler) comes in,” said Jackson-Davis. “As he speaks. And then you have Draymond (green) and Steph (curry). These guys were there. I have learned a lot of them in the past two years.

“But also QP (post) help. He will come and ask me questions and I will try to help him. Or speak to (Kevon Looney) and see what he does. I just try to absorb and help whenever I can. Be the best teammate I can be. “

The last time Jackson-Davis played a G League game, November 10, 2023, when he scored 28 points last season and scored 12 rebounds. Sunday should be a one-game stay, and Jackson-Davis is only looking forward to playing in a game and considering the day as an opportunity, in contrast to a downgrade.
